Former Cliftonville striker Jay Donnelly is set to return to football with Ballymena Intermediate League side Belfast Celtic.
A Celtic spokesman confirmed the signing to the BBC on Friday.
A further statement on the move is expected to come from the club - formerly known as Sport and Leisure Swifts - on Sunday.
Donnelly (24) served a three-month prison sentence last year for distributing an indecent image of a child.
In June 2016, Donnelly took a photograph of himself having sex with a 16-year-old girl who was wearing a Cliftonville shirt with his name and number on the back.
He shared the image with a friend and with a number of fellow players on the messaging service WhatsApp. It was later leaked on social media.
Donnelly admitted the charge in November 2018 at Belfast Magistrates Court.
He was later charged by the Irish FA with bringing the game into disrepute and suspended from playing football until September 1, 2019.
Cliftonville sacked Donnelly after he was given his prison sentence.
