Former City Council site for sale in Nottingham

A former Nottingham City Council site is being sold on for redevelopment.

The former Housing Aid building in Lower Parliament Street has been demolished and the site and neighbouring car park, near the entrance to Sneinton Market, are now being sold.

Housing Aid, which supports people who are homeless or those threatened with homelessness, is now based at Loxley House as of January 2020.

A Delegated Decision document seen by Nottinghamshire Live shows that the sale applies to the site of the former council building, as well as the 48 space Brook Street car park.

The document said: "135 to 137 Lower Parliament Street has now been vacated and demolished.

"135 to 137 Lower Parliament Street and the adjoining Arena (Brook Street) car park have been placed on the open market for sale via a national marketing campaign with a closing date for offers set."

An authority planning consultation document published last year advised how it would like to see the site developed.

It stated "a high-quality residential-led development scheme consisting of apartments" in addition and/or student accommodation was considered appropriate.

However, it also stated prospective proposals should include retail, office and office facilities.
