Former Free Church of Scotland minister posed as lesbian in sex snaps extortion bid

A former Free Church of Scotland minister tried to convince a woman to send him intimate images of herself by posing as a lesbian on social media.

David Finlay Macdonald, 29, of Stornoway, pled guilty to posing as “Eilidh” on MSN Messenger and trying to extort intimate pictures of his victim.

He denied three charges when the trial got under way at Stornoway Sheriff Court but then admitted one of trying to make a woman send him intimate images of herself by extortion in 2010.

Not guilty pleas on two similar accusations relating to alleged incidents in 2015 involving two other females were accepted by the Crown.

His victim told the court she was oblivious to Macdonald being “Eilidh” on MSN Messenger. She added: “I felt I was being blackmailed.”

The woman told the court she felt “sickened to my stomach” by the request for images and refused to comply.

Sentence was deferred on Macdonald until January for background reports and his bail
was continued.
