A former childcare worker has pleaded guilty to producing child exploitation material while working at a childcare centre.

Bronte John Ciracovitch admitted to producing child exploitation material of a child under the age of 14 in September 2020.

The Adelaide Magistrates Court heard the child was in his care at the time at the childcare centre, in Adelaide's northern suburbs, and Ciracovitch abused his position of trust.

The court heard the 30-year-old was contesting seven other charges, including having a sexual relationship with a child and producing and possessing child exploitation material.

The ABC understands the childcare centre where the accused worked only notified 180 families of his arrest after a suppression on his identity was lifted last month.

Ciracovitch has been in custody since his arrest.

The matter is expected to return to court later this month.
