Former Child Star Alleges Sexual Misconduct On The Amanda Show

child star movie

This article discusses a recent revelation of sexual misconduct involving a former child star from The Amanda Show. The mother of the young actress has come forward to share her daughter's alleged experience with sexual misconduct that occurred after filming an episode of the popular children's show. The claims were made in an upcoming docuseries titled Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, which delves into behind-the-scenes aspects of famous '90s and 2000s children's shows.

The young actress, referred to as Brandi, appeared in a single episode of The Amanda Show, which aired from 1999 to 2002. According to her mother, about a week after filming, Brandi allegedly began receiving emails from a production assistant named Jason Handy. Initially, the emails were described as innocent, discussing the shows Handy had worked on. However, the communication escalated over time, with Brandi sharing more details about the emails with her mother.

A few months later, Brandi's mother noticed a sudden change in her daughter's behavior while using the computer. Brandi reportedly received a nude photo of Handy engaging in a sex act, which left her distraught and led to her abruptly shutting down the computer and retreating to her bedroom in tears. The mother, faced with a difficult decision, ultimately chose to separate her daughter from Handy, effectively ending Brandi's acting aspirations.

Jason Handy was later arrested in 2003 on multiple counts of lewd acts with children and served a six-year prison sentence. Despite this, he faced further legal issues in 2014 related to indecent liberties with a child and sex offender registry violations. Nickelodeon, the network behind The Amanda Show, did not provide an immediate response to requests for comment on the matter.

The docuseries Quiet On Set, where these revelations are featured, is set to air this Sunday and Monday at 9 p.m. ET.
