A former Chiefs player joined the list of players who have decided against playing the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver/returner De'Anthony Thomas, who played for the Chiefs for parts of six seasons from 2014 to 2019, has opted out of the coming season.
Thomas, 27, appeared in six games for the Chiefs a year ago before he was released and joined the Baltimore Ravens. In eight games with the Ravens, Thomas returned 13 punts for 93 yards and took 10 kickoffs back for 166 yards.
The Ravens announced Thomas' decision on Monday afternoon.
Chiefs offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif was the first player to skip the 2020 season, making his announcement Friday night on Twitter.
On Sunday, Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported Seahawks offensive lineman Chance Warmack also will sit out the season.
In six seasons with the Chiefs, Thomas caught 65 passes for 509 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 191 yards and two scores.
Thomas, a fourth-round pick by the Chiefs in the 2014 NFL Draft, also returned 85 punts with the Chiefs, averaging 8.8 yards per return with one touchdown. He had 58 kickoff returns (24.5 yard average).
