Former Chiefs QB Chase Litton joins Jaguars practice squad

After being cut by the Chiefs this preseason, quarterback Chase Litton got signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. He’ll continue to develop behind Nick Foles. This will be another opportunity for the young quarterback to make an NFL roster as he moves on from the Chiefs.

Litton originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL draft out of Marshall. He spent the 2018 season on the Chiefs practice squad, operating as the No. 3 QB behind Patrick Mahomes and Chad Henne. In his two preseasons with the Chiefs, Litton had 575 yards with four touchdowns and an interception. He was outplayed this preseason by Kyle Shurmur, who replaces Litton on the Chiefs’ practice squad in 2019.

There will obviously be some concerns about the Jaguars probing Litton for information about the upcoming Week 1 game against the Chiefs. As the No. 4 QB throughout the preseason, Litton probably doesn’t have a great handle on the gameplan. The Jaguars will be looking for Litton to give them the inside scoop about Andy Reid’s complex scheme, but it’s hard to believe it will be of much value to the Jaguars.

This is something that a lot of teams in the NFL will do, especially going into the first week of the season with there not being much film from the 2019 season. Reid usually has new plays that catch every team by surprise during the first couple weeks of the season. We’ll find out if he reveals any sort of details to the Jaguars and if it’ll help during Week 1 of the regular season.
