Former Chiefs OG Brian Waters set to go into Ring of Honor on Sunday

The Ring of Honor will have a new name unveiled on Sunday evening when the Kansas City Chiefs face the Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium.

As a finale to the Chiefs’ fantennial celebration this weekend, former offensive guard Brian Waters is set to go into the Chiefs’ Hall of Fame at halftime during tonight’s Sunday Night Football game against the Colts. Waters spent 11 seasons with Kansas City from 2000-2010 and was a foundational piece along some of the greatest offensive lines in franchise history. He wasn’t always an offensive lineman, though.

In fact, Waters began his career as a defensive lineman. He spent time with the failed NFL Europe league, where he learned to play the offensive line position. Waters went on to start 149 games along the offensive line for Kansas City, mostly at left guard. He would become a five-time Pro Bowler with the Chiefs, earning first-team all-pro honors once and the Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2009.

Many former Chiefs legends will be in attendance to see Waters inducted into the Ring of Honor. His tremendous impact as a teammate and player did not go unnoticed by his peers. Waters will also get the chance to lead the drum ceremony ahead of the game.

In addition to joining the Chiefs’ Hall of Fame, Waters is among modern-era candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame this season.
