Former Chelsea striker explains Maurizio Sarri's angry rant ahead of Europa League final

Former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has explained Maurizio Sarri's rant ahead of the Europa League final with Arsenal.

Sarri appeared visibly frustrated during last night's training session as his team prepared for the final in Azerbaijan.

Gonzalo Higuain and David Luiz appeared to exchange words after a confrontation with Sarri storming off shortly afterwards.

The Italian threw and then kicked his cap as he left the field at at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

Chelsea said the manager was unhappy "due to not being able to practise set-plays" during training with the session opened to media.

Gudjohnsen was watching the session for BT Sport and he explained what had happend.

He said: "We were following the training session last night and we thought ‘ooh something has gone on there’. We saw the manager, the staff getting together and having a discussion.

"We saw the players not really sure what was happening. We asked the question was there something in the five-a-side game, was there something between the players.

"There was a little incident. There wasn’t too much between Higuain and David Luiz."

Fellow pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas also added his verdict on the training session and backed the club's version of events.

"I guarantee you this is the truth. He’s very superstitious.

"He loves to do the set pieces, the tactics, offensively, defensively, the day before a game.

"They didn’t allow him to do it because it was an open session. For sure they would have told him [it was an open session] which is the weird thing but he has to do it that way."
