Former Chelsea manager makes bold John Terry prediction

Former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has predicted that John Terry could one day find himself in the hot seat at Stamford Bridge.

Terry rose through the youth ranks at Chelsea before becoming the club's starting centre-back and then eventually captain, before he also went on to lead the England national team.

Di Matteo briefly took over the reins at Chelsea in 2012 and even led his former side to the Champions League crown that summer but ultimately he was sacked after a poor start to the 2012/13 campaign.

The former midfielder therefore knows a thing or two about the qualities of Terry, and he has opened up on what he feels the future holds for the current Aston Villa assistant coach.

“If you can sign JT, you get him," Di Matteo told the Athletic. “He's a guy who makes things easier for the manager.

“He, too, will be there (Chelsea) as a manager in the future. As a player he was writing down some of the sessions and he's now gained so much experience from the managers he's worked under.”

Meanwhile, Di Matteo also added that he believes Frank Lampard will do a fantastic job at the Blues after returning to the club following a one-season stint as the manager of Derby County, where he guided the Rams to the Championship play-off final.

“Frank will become a great manager," Di Matteo added. “He is a very balanced guy - sensible, smart and incredibly hard-working. I think it's the right appointment for Chelsea because it brings everybody together.”
