Former Chelsea midfielder Marko Marin will be returning to London tomorrow (Tuesday) - and has a clear aim to beat one of his old club's big rivals.
Marin is now the captain of Red Star Belgrade, who face Spurs at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Champions League tomorrow evening.
And the 30-year-old, who made just six appearances in a disappointing spell with Chelsea after joining the Blues in 2012, is relishing the chance to take on a Tottenham side struggling for form in both the Premier League and Champions League so far this season.
“To play against last season’s Champions League finalists – to play against the biggest teams in Europe – is a huge thing for everyone at Red Star," he said.
“And our win last season at home to Liverpool in the Champions League [2-0 in the group stage] means that every team must now take us seriously.”
However, Marin said that he is aware of the threat posed by Spurs - and Harry Kane in particular.
And he said he believes that Mauricio Pochettino's men will turn things around, after only picking up one point from their first two games in the Champions League group stage so far this season.
“I’m sure they will bounce back to their best soon because they have too much quality," he said.
“They have also had time to regain some confidence with their national teams.
“[Harry] Kane, for example, is one of the best strikers in the world. He’s showed it over many years for both club and country.”
