Former Chargers OL Max Tuerk dies at age 26

Former Chargers offensive lineman Max Tuerk died on Sunday, according to USC Athletics. There was no cause of his death mentioned in the tweet. Tuerk was 26 at the time of his death.

Tuerk was drafted by the Chargers in the third-round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of the University of Southern California (USC). He did not play in a single game during his rookie year and didn’t get off to a hot start in his sophomore season, either.

Before the start of the 2017 season, Tuerk was given a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

He was waived on Oct. 4 and then re-signed to the practice squad on Oct. 26. On Nov. 6, he signed with the Cardinals off the Chargers practice squad. In April of 2018, he was released by Arizona, and was never picked up by another club after that.

In 38 games during his college career for the Trojans, Tuerk proved to everyone that he is versatile. He started every position along the offensive line, where he earned First-Team All-Pac-12 during his junior season.
