Former Chargers assistant lands with Rams as DL coach

Former Chargers assistant defensive line coach Eric Henderson has found a new home, but he won’t be having to travel that far. The Rams have hired Henderson as their new defensive line coach, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

The news of Henderson’s move to the Rams came as a bit of a surprise. Their existing defensive line coach Bill Johnson has been praised across the NFL for his success with the Rams’ defensive line, which includes defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

Henderson made his NFL coaching debut in 2017 for the Bolts, and before, was with Georgia Military College and Oklahoma State. He held the same position this past season, where he helped coach a group that included the two prolific edge rushers — Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa.

Prior to coaching, Henderson spent some time playing in the league. He signed with the Bengals in 2006 as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech, where he set a record with 59.5 tackles for loss and ranked No. 5 in school history with 25 sacks.
