Former chancellor George Osborne and his wife stalked for year by journalist

  • Freelance journalist Lydia Suffield has admitted stalking George Osborne and his wife, Thea Rogers, for over a year.
  • Suffield sent emails and Instagram messages to the couple and filed false referrals to the children's charity NSPCC between June 2022 and July 2023.
  • She initially denied two counts of stalking involving serious alarm or distress but pleaded guilty to two lesser stalking offences at Isleworth Crown Court.
  • Suffield also contacted close friends, family, and work colleagues of the couple, making allegations of drug abuse and sending a gift for their young children.
  • The journalist, from Liverpool, was granted bail with conditions not to contact the couple and is scheduled to be sentenced on 3 July.
