Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan 'wanted' for UK transfer return from New York Red Bulls

Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan is wanted for a return to the UK, according to a report.

English Championship outfit Huddersfield have had a bit booted out by current club New York Red Bulls. The Scotland international - who also turned out for St Mirren - has netted a stunning 14 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions this season and provided three assists. That one in two goal ratio has attracted the attention of the Terriers, who are in the market for an attacking player, report Football Scotland.

Danny Schofield is believed to be a big fan of the winger, who spent time in England under now Dundee United gaffer Jack Ross during his time in charge of Sunderland. It's believed an offer of around £750,000 was placed - but Red Bulls rejected the offer. The 25-year-old - who also played for David Beckham's Inter Miami pre to his move to the Big Apple - is believed to have been the subject of interest from Millwall earlier this summer. But they wanted a loan deal and the move for the former Celtic man ended at that point.

It's not yet known whether Huddersfield will table an improved offer for Morgan.

Morgan reiterated his desire to force his way back into Steve Clarke's Scotland plans in an exclusive interview with Glasgow Live Sport back in May.

Speaking at the time, he said: "Yeah absolutely. I am obviously desperate to try and get back in the international fold.

"I think I have played quite a lot of football out here at wing-back, especially last year, and I think that lends itself quite well to the national team.

"I am always going to support the team regardless if I am included or not.

"We saw what the Euro qualification did for the whole nation. It lifted everyone."
