Former Celtic winger Armstrong Oko-Flex released by West Ham

Former Celtic player Armstrong Oko-Flex has been released by West Ham United after just two years at the club.

The 21-year-old winger has not been offered a new contract by the East London club after making just one appearance for the side in the Europa Conference League last season. This was following two senior appearances the season before, again in Europe.

The player spent the first half of his season on loan at EFL Championship side Swansea City, though he was recalled by his parent club in January this year.

Oko-Flex made just two appearances for Celtic in his time at the club. This was when the first-team contingent was ravaged by positive COVID-19 cases following a mid-season Dubai training camp. He joined West Ham the following summer and scored in a pre-season friendly against his former side at Celtic Park.

Capped at youth level by both England and the Republic of Ireland, Oko-Flex's last appearance at the international level was for the latter's U19 side in 2019.

The club said: "West Ham United would like to thank all those players departing for their hard work and commitment during their careers in Claret and Blue and wish them the very best in the future."

Meanwhile, Mohamed Elyounoussi has remained coy over his next move amid speculation over a return to Celtic.

The winger, 28, has left Southampton upon the expiry of his contract following the club's relegation from the Premier League.

And immediate speculation linked Elyounoussi with a possible return to Celtic under Brendan Rodgers - who is reportedly set to become Parkhead boss.

But Elyounoussi insists he is not currently considering his future, instead fully focused on Norway's upcoming Euro qualifiers against Scotland and Cyprus.

There are already offers on the table for his services, though, as he admitted it'll be "interesting" to see where he ends up this summer.

The former Celtic player said: "Right now I am just focusing on the two games we have for Norway.

"After I will take a break and look at options. There are some already.

"It will depend on the whole package in terms of where and the contract situation, so it's going to be interesting to see where I land."
