Former Celtic stopper Erik Sviatchenko slaughtered and Midtjylland told they have 'no chance' against Rangers

Ex-Celtic stopper Erik Sviatchenko has been lampooned by notorious Danish hardman Stig Tofting, ahead of Rangers' Europa League showdown with his Midtjylland side.

And the former Hamburg and Bolton Wanderers midfield enforcer believes the Ibrox side will be too strong for his compatriots in the third qualifying round.

Former Celtic defender Sviatchenko was sent off after receiving two yellow cards within two minutes during his side's 1-0 weekend win against Aalborg.

And 41-times-capped Tofting - who was once jailed for headbutting a bar owner in Copenhagen - wasn't impressed with Sviatchenko, ahead of the match against Rangers .

Tofting said: "Erik had a brain haemorrhage. It was just foolish.

"He got the second yellow card just a minute and a half after he got the first card and it was such a pointless card too.

"It was a ridiculous act by a player who is supposed to be very experienced.

"I find it incredible actually that a player like him who has played over 150 league matches lost his discipline in such a situation.

"FCM have been concentrating on these games in the Europa League, but I don't believe they have a chance of beating Rangers.

"The Scots will play the second leg in Glasgow and that's a big advantage to them.

"But if FCM go out in this round I would regard it as a failure. Their entire focus has been to be a success in Europe."
