Ex Celtic star left stunned after teenage son makes brutal Rangers jibe during row

An Ex- Celtic star was left stunned after his son made a brutal Rangers jibe during a row.

Simon Donnelly 'thought his ears were playing tricks on him' after his bold teenager pointed out 'you've never scored against Rangers ' after being told off.

But the red faced former Hoops player couldn't help but see the funny side and laughed it off after the 14-year-old, who is on 'thin ice', was out of earshot.

He had been 'reprimanding' the schoolboy for fighting with his younger sibling when the cheeky remark left him gobsmacked.

Donnelly raked in thousands of likes after sharing the hilarious exchange with his 36.8K followers on Twitter.

He Tweeted: "Is it acceptable for a 14-year-old to come back with 'you never scored against Rangers' not any 14-year-old, my own after being reprimanded for swinging at 11-year-old, thin ice!"

"I thought my ears were playing tricks on me , couldn’t help but laugh but only after he’d left the garden."

Fans were quick to reply to the bold comments after being left in stitches by the comeback.

Although he took the jibe well, Donnelly went on to tell to fans that if his son started calling him 'Celtic Morelos' he would be 'asked to leave'.

Donnelly, 45, played professionally as a forward or wide midfielder and joined Celtic in 1993.

One sympathetic follower said: "The 3-0 game at Hampden. It was going in - Moore just guided it over the line."

Another commented: "I think that is a great comeback, and your 14 year old should be rewarded for being so quick and nasty with the comeback."

While others replied: "I mind you celebrating winning a penalty though, then the goalie saved it."

One fan recalled: "To be honest I still think back to that semi-final at Hampden park and wonder how u got the ball over the bar from that close."

Donnelly jokingly replied: "Can of worms with this tweet."
