Former Celtic star Ki Sung-yueng finds new club as midfielder looks to reignite career

Former Celtic star Ki Sung-yueng has sealed a move to Mallorca after leaving Newcastle in January.

The midfielder's Magpies contract was ripped up as he was deemed surplus to requirements by boss Steve Bruce.

And now the 31-year-old has made his next move, signing a short-term deal with the Spanish side until the end of the season.

Rumours circulated in the winter transfer window that Neil Lennon would link up with the South Korean once again, but there was nothing substantial to suggest that a deal was on the cards.

Ki starred for Celtic between 2010-12 and made the jump to the Premier League where he excelled with Swansea City.

The playmaker spent six years with the Welsh club before joining Newcastle in 2018.

Ki struggled for regular minutes during a frustrating spell at St James' Park but will hope his switch to the La Liga outfit will reignite his career.

Mallorca are amid a relegation battle in the Spanish top tier as they lie in 18th position in the league table.
