Former Celtic kid Tony Watt could be set for first Motherwell start with crocked Chris Long missing out

Tony Watt could be set to be handed a start for Motherwell with crocked Chris Long to miss out tonight against St Mirren.

The striker is looking for his first start for the Steelmen having joined from Bulgarian outfit CSKA Sofia last month.

Stephen Robinson confirmed that the 26-year-old was in the running for a start with 10-goal hitman Long set to miss the clash.

The boss said: “We did an 11 versus 11 game ourselves on Astro on Saturday so we got another 45 minutes into Tony Watt.

Missing out Christopher Long is a doubt for the fixtures this week (SNS Group)

“That gave us a little bit more time to work with him so he becomes a live option as well.

“Chris Long will be out, but one thing that hasn’t really been mentioned is James Scott and Devante Cole.

“We know that a lot of physical presence has been taken out of a very successful front three. We are still trying to find the right combinations for people to step up and make that impact.”
