Former Liverpool defender Gary Gillespie has delivered a playful jibe at Rangers after he claimed "bitter Blues' occupy every city.
The ex-Scotland international spent three seasons with Celtic after his trophy-laden spell at Anfield where he was part of one of English football's greatest ever sides.
Gillespie is basking in the glow of the Reds' first title win in 30 years as Jurgen Klopp's achievers ended generation of hurt with their emphatic campaign.
And the 59-year-old, a regular on Liverpool TV, reckons snipes from local rivals Everton is part and parcel of any fierce rivalry as he opened up on his media duties on Merseyside.
Speaking to Sportsound, he said: "I have a radio programme down here with Ian Snodden, he is an Evertonian, one of these bitter Blues.
"It's the same in every city, you get bitter Blues in every big city."
Host Richard Gordon moved quickly to remind the audience whose opinion that was, adding: "Just to make it clear, that was Gary Gillespie that said that.
Before Gillespie responded: "Have you just cut me off there?"
Before the three-time English league winner continued: "I do that for Radio Merseyside, which is the local BBC radio station here but my main job is doing all the LFC TV stuff."
"I've been doing that since 2007 and we've seen ups and downs but this has certainly been the icing on the cake. Everyone is really celebrating."
