Former Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin to retire as a Raven

Things did not end well back 10 years ago with the Arizona Cardinals and receiver Anquan Boldin. After multiple years of displeasure about his contract, Boldin was traded to the Baltimore Ravens. He played three seasons in Baltimore and helped them win a Super Bowl.

Despite only playing three years there, he is announcing his retirement from the league as a member of the Ravens, the team announced Sunday.

Boldin played seven seasons with the Cardinals, the team who drafted him in the second round. He was a three-time Pro Bowler with Arizona and helped them make the playoffs twice and the Super Bowl once.

His best seasons were with the Cardinals. He played three seasons with the Ravens, then three with the San Francisco 49ers and one with the Detroit Lions.

He clearly bonded with the Ravens organization and the city of Baltimore. “Once a Raven, always a Raven,” he said in the video.

He should have retired a Cardinal. He and the organization should have buried whatever hatchet there still is between them. He was one of the best Cardinals of this generation. He deserves a spot in the Ring of Honor. That might not happen if he only sees himself as a member of the Ravens.
