Former Cardinals QB John Skelton taking a shot at local politics

Some fans will remember John Skelton, who was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2010 in the fifth round out of Fordham. He was the starter for part of his time on the team.

He has not played since 2012 but stayed in Tempe, Arizona, where the team headquarters is located, after his career.

Now he is making a move into politics.

Skelton announced his candidacy for Tempe Town Council Wednesday.

Skelton has raised his son in Tempe and started a business there.

In his time with the Cardinals, he started 17 games with an 8-9 record. He completed 53.2% of his passes for 3,707 yards, 15 touchdown passes and 25 interceptions.
