Former Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro retires from NFL

Kicker Chandler Catanzaro, who played three seasons for the Arizona Cardinals to begin his career, has retired from the NFL. The New York Jets announced the decision and the roster move they made to replace him on the roster.

Catanzaro entered the league with the Cardinals as an undrafted rookie out of Clemson, winning the kicking job over Jay Feely in 2014. For two seasons, he was as good a kicker as there was in the league, making 29-of-33 field goals in 2014 and 28-of-31 in 2015. The Cardinals went to the playoffs both seasons.

However, he struggled in 2016, making only 21-of-28 field goals and missing several crucial kicks.

After his time in Arizona, he kicked for the New York Jets in 2017 and then spent time with both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers in 2018.

He was struggling in camp with the Jets before he decided to call it a career after five seasons in the NFL.
