Former Cardiff City, Derby County, Celtic and Wales star Joe Ledley appears to have made a decision on his future

Joe Ledley is set to join Dutch side Fortuna Sittard, according to reports in the Netherlands.

The 32-year-old is a free agent after leaving Derby County back in January, and has seen his future become the subject of speculation ever since.

Rumours around his next step went into overdrive earlier this week when the former Cardiff City star board on his Twitter page with the caption "Let's go have a look then".

Fans of former club Celtic got excited after seeing that Glasgow was one of the possible destinations, but Ledley now looks set to ply his trade in the Eredivisie next season.

According to 1Limburg , Ledley has already been spotted in Sittard and has spoken to the club's sporting director Sjoerd Ars, and could follow ex-Borussia Dortmund defender Felix Passlack through the door at the Limburg club.

Should the move go through, it will close a difficult chapter in Ledley's career.

The 77-time Welsh international made over 250 appearances for hometown club Cardiff  and was a key part of the Wales side that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016, but saw his career grind to a halt after being frozen out at Derby County by Frank Lampard last season.

In a recent interview with WalesOnline, "I wanted to play football and I thought that I should be playing. Basically, I had no chance of playing there.

"I wasn't even travelling and part of me was just thinking 'I can't be doing this for the rest of the season, I'm wasted here.'

"I decided to terminate my contract.

"I'm back at square one and working as hard as I can to try and be ready for next season.

"I'm confident I'll find somewhere. There's offers there but it's one of those where I need to work out if I want to take them or just keep waiting and see what happens."
