Former Camelot theme park to reopen as 'interactive zombie experience'

The former Camelot theme park is to be transformed into a terrifying zombie land as a new event launches next month.

The iconic theme park will open its doors for the first time in years in February as an apocalypse experience takes over its Chorley grounds, teeming with zombies and monsters.

Boasting real life actors, drive-in cinemas, food stalls and a bar, the Park Party Camelot Rises event is ideal for those who just can't wait until October to get their spooky thrills.

Run by the company which organised the Scare City and Christmas City events in Manchester, the event is now on sale for dates throughout February and March, from Thursdays through to Sundays.

Cinema screenings include The Ring, Annabelle Comes Home, Insidious and a Quiet Place.

Locations within the doomed park include a military checkpoint, Camelot Castle, valley of the dead, a decontamination station and the River of the Dead, reports Lancs Live.

One Agency, which runs the Park N Party events, warn the event is 'not for the faint of heart', with flashing lights, loud noises, smoke, fake gore, zombie attacks, and much more.

What to expect?

A deadly accident has left the mythical world of Camelot destroyed…and full of zombies hungry for human flesh.

As the army fight to keep control of the park, it’s your turn to see if you can survive a deadly night of terror.

Drive into your doom through one mile of zombie infested land and enter Camelot at your peril.

Prepare to have a torch flashed in your eyes one minute, before being bombarded by a mob of flesh eating zombies the next.

Do what the soldiers tell you, or face being the undead’s next meal.

As the legendary castle sits derelict, you’ll experience all of the sights, sounds and sensations that put you right in the middle of an apocalyptic event.

Journey through the Valley of the Dead

As you venture into the deadly world of Camelot, you’ll first come across a military checkpoint.

Entering the castle, soldiers containing the park will see you into a contaminated area. Whether you make it out alive or not is down to you.

You’ll then head into the Valley of the Dead. Formerly the jousting arena in old Camelot, now home to legions of rotting zombies - you will not be greeted kindly.

Following this vicious attack, guards will be on patrol, but there's no promise the zombies won’t break in and look again for their next meal.

A spokesperson for One Media said: “This is Camelot, but not as you know it. Something deadly has destroyed the legendary world of Camelot, now overrun by zombies hungry for human flesh!

“As the army struggle to keep control of the area, it’s time to see if you can survive this gruesome night of post-apocalyptic horror.

“This is an experience not to be missed. Featuring a fully immersive, interactive zombie experience, delicious food and drink to devour, and some of the greatest (and scariest!) zombie films ever made, missing Camelot Rises would be dead wrong. Buy your tickets now…if you’ve got the stomach for it.”
