Former Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl has been fined £700 for hurling abuse and threatening a referee in a pitch bust-up during a game.
McColl, 50, of Rutherglen, lost his temper and stormed on to the pitch after 29-year-old ref Callum Scott – a serving police officer – gave a penalty against his team and sent off two players.
The ill-tempered West of Scotland Super League junior clash with Glenafton Athletic in December 2018 had to be abandoned by referee Scott, who also showed McColl a red card following his abusive outburst.
By the time cops arrived at Glenafton’s Loch Park ground in New Cumnock, Ayrshire, McColl had left the scene.
He later handed himself in and last month admitted threatening behaviour during an appearance at Ayr Sheriff Court.
McColl, who was sacked as manager of Cambuslang Rangers in the aftermath of the incident, was fined £700 when he returned to court last Friday.
The Reformer previously reported how McColl was shot in the face and stomach as he got out of his car in a targeted attack in Cambuslang two years ago.
