Former Buzzcocks host Mark Lamarr charged with assault and false imprisonment

The former host of Never Mind the Buzzcocks Mark Lamarr has been charged with common assault and false imprisonment.

The 51-year-old will comedian appear before magistrates in Uxbridge on 2 October, London’s Metropolitan Police said.

He was charged in London on 1 September and released on conditional bail.

Lamarr – born Mark Jones – became famous in the nineties for presenting shows such as The Big Breakfast, and The Word. He hosted Nevermind The Buzzcocks between 1996 and 2005 and was a regular on Shooting Stars.

He was also a big star on Radio 2, presenting a late night show and specialist music series Shake, Rattle and Roll for 12 years, leaving in 2010.
