Former Bulldogs standout in Patriots-Giants’ Thursday Night Football game

Sony Michel and the New England Patriots handily defeated the New York Giants 35-14 on Thursday Night Football. Former Georgia Bulldogs were in the limelight in yet another primetime football game.

Sony Michel contributed eighty-six rushing yards on twenty-two carries. Michel didn’t find the end zone as Tom Brady scored two rushing touchdowns. More importantly for the Patriots, Michel is becoming a larger part of their passing game. Traditionally New England runs the ball with Sony Michel in the game and passes when James White is on the field. White is one of the best receiving backs in the NFL, but Michel is no slouch either. Michel caught two passes for twenty-seven yards last night.

Michel already has more receiving yardage this season than he did all of last year. Michel was a weapon out of the backfield at UGA, where he caught over twenty catches during both his sophomore and junior seasons.

Michel wasn’t the only Bulldog to play last night. Lorenzo Carter and Alec Ogletree both recorded sacks. Ogletree made a nice move to get to Patriot QB Tom Brady:

Lorenzo Carter forced a fumble on his first half sack. The Giants returned the fumble for a touchdown in a play that gave New York some much needed momentum:
