Former Bulldogs Jarvis Jones, Juwan Taylor join Georgia’s support staff

Two former linebackers are back at Georgia for the 2019 season as part of Kirby Smart’s support staff.

According to the Georgia media guide, which can be seen online, former Georgia players Jarvis Jones and Juwan Taylor are listed as student defensive assistants.

Taylor, a graduate of Georgia this past season, was mainly a special teamer for UGA. In 2018, he played a bigger role at inside linebacker, and for his career he tallied 76 total tackles, 1 1/2 tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles and four quarterback hurries.

As for Jones, he is considered one of the greatest linebackers in the history of Georgia football. He left Athens after a 2012 season that saw him break David Pollack’s sack record with 14.5 sacks.

In 2011 and 2012 combined, Jones racked up 155 tackles, 44 tackles for a loss and 28 sacks.

The Columbus, Georgia native came to Athens after one year at Southern California.

He was selected 17th overall in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
