The Ohio State men’s hockey program has retooled itself into one of the best in the country. That usually results in high-profile signings of players tied to the program, and that’s just what we saw yesterday. Three former players signed pro-contracts Friday to continue careers at the next level.
Ryan Dzingel, who was traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Columbus Bluejackets for a Stanley Cup Playoff run late last year, won’t go back to Ohio’s capital city, but instead signed a two-year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes worth $6.75 Million.
Secondly, after being traded to the St. Louis Blues, former Buckeye Dakota Joshua who just finished up his career with OSU, signed with the Stanley Cup Champions for two-years with an entry level contract.
And lastly, forward Nick Schilkey — who played with Dzingel while he was at OSU from 2013-2017 — signed with the AHL affiliate of the NY Islanders, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He was a four year player and captain for the Buckeyes.
Congrats to these former OSU standouts, and once a Buckeye … always a Buckeye.
