Former Buckeye hoops’ Mike Conley wins NBA’s Teammate of the Year and Sportsmanship Award

Former Ohio State point guard Mike Conley may have just recently been traded to the Utah Jazz from the Memphis Grizzlies, but it wasn’t because of his ability to be an integral part of a team.

The NBA handed out some awards on Monday night and Conley won both the league’s Sportsmanship Award and the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award.

Conley is known for his hard work, but he’s also well known for his ability to get his teammates involved, to positively influence and motivate others, and to be a leader by example on the court with his demeanor and character.

Buckeye fans may have only got one-year to really get to know the former point guard, but he was a consummate teammate in Columbus as well that helped the 2006-07 team make it all the way to the national title game.

Utah is getting themselves a heck of a player — but even more importantly — a heck of a person.
