Former Browns WR takes coaching job with Steelers

The Cleveland Browns continue to be the center of new coaching hires in the NFL. With so many coaches and players churning through the organization over the past two decades, it isn’t a surprise that some of them become coaches other places.

What might be a surprise is that so many are becoming head coaches and that so many, head coaches and position coaches, are being hired in the same offseason.

So far the following former Browns employees have gotten coaching jobs in the NFL since the end of the 2021 regular season:

  • Brian Daboll – New York Giants head coach
  • Matt Eberflus – Chicago Bears head coach
  • Kevin O’Connell – Minnesota Vikings head coach (Expected not official)
  • Mike McDaniel – Miami Dolphins head coach
  • Doug Pederson – Jacksonville Jaguars head coach
  • Jim Dray – Chicago Bears tight ends coach

Tuesday, we have another former Cleveland player taking a position coach job, this time with the rival Pittsburgh Steelers:

Jackson has been coaching since 2008 after finishing his playing career in 2007. He was with the Carolina Panthers the last two years joining Matt Rhule who he had coached under at Baylor University prior to that.

For the Browns, Jackson played four seasons catching 40 passes for 490 yards and one touchdown.

Along with all the coaches coming from former Cleveland employees, Jackson joins Sashi Brown in joining an AFC North rival. Brown recently took over as president of the Baltimore Ravens in a surprising move.
