Former Browns O-Line coach Howard Mudd passes away

Howard Mudd has passed away today at the age of 78 years old. He died due to injuries that were the result of a motorcycle accident that occurred two weeks ago. Mudd was involved with the NFL for over 50 years and is likely most remembered for his stint as the offensive line coach for the Indianapolis Colts from 1998-2009.

Before being a coach, Mudd was an All-Pro lineman for the San Francisco 49ers in 1967-1968 and ended his career with the Chicago Bears in 1970. On the coaching side, Mudd was on numerous staffs throughout his career, including the San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers & Seattle Seahawks before he arrived in Cleveland. He was on the Browns staff as the offensive line coach from 1983-1988.

Mudd was a well-respected coach and character. Our thoughts and sympathies are with those who loved him.
