Former Browns LB Joe Schobert headed to the Steelers in a trade

Joe Schobert is heading back to the AFC North. The former Browns linebacker is being traded by the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Schobert’s wife, Megan, was the first to break the news in a social media post.

The return compensation is not yet known. The news of the trade broke just as the Steelers kicked off their preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Schobert started for four seasons (2016-2019) at linebacker for the Browns. He was a fourth-round pick by Cleveland after a strong career at Wisconsin. Schobert made the Pro Bowl in 2017 when he led the NFL in tackles.

The Browns controversially elected to allow Schobert to hit free agency, and the Jaguars pounced with a five-year, $53.75 million contract. In his one season in Jacksonville, Schobert logged 141 tackles and three interceptions.

Now he’ll get to face the Browns twice a year with the Steelers.
