Former Browns GM Phil Savage set to join Jets front office

Former Cleveland Browns GM Phil Savage is expected to join the new-look front office of the New York Jets. According to a report from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and quickly confirmed by other insiders, Savage will work under new Jets GM Joe Douglas in an as-yet-unspecified role in New York.

Savage was the Browns GM from 2005-08, producing a 24-40 record that includes the team’s one winning season in the last 15 years.

He most recently served as the president of the Arizona Hotshots of the now-defunct AAF. Savage spent several years in charge of the Reese’s Senior Bowl in his hometown of Mobile, Alabama.
