Former Browns exec Sashi Brown hired to head new D.C. basketball venture

Former Cleveland Browns executive VP of football operations Sashi Brown has a new job. It’s still in professional sports but in a different sport than football.

Brown has been hired by the Washington Wizards organization and owner Ted Leonsis to head a new division of his Monumental Sports and Entertainment property. Per the Washington Post, Brown is officially the chief planning and operations officer for the new venture, which unites all of Leonsis’ basketball properties under one umbrella. That includes the NBA’s Wizards, WNBA’s Mystics, the Capital City Go-Go of the G-League and an NBA2K team.

It’s a big departure for Brown, who served as the primary football decision-maker for the Browns from 2016-17. Cleveland won one game in the two seasons under his direct control. The 43-year-old has a legal background with no basketball experience.
