Former Browns DL Armonty Bryant battling severe kidney disease

Armonty Bryant spent his first three NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns. The defensive lineman made the Browns as a seventh-round pick back in 2013 and eventually worked his way into a starting role in 2015, bagging 5.5 sacks and forcing two fumbles.

Now Bryant spends his days struggling with a nasty kidney disease and in need of a transplant.

Bryant has focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, commonly known as FSGS. According to an excellent piece from ESPN’s Mike Rothstein, the 270-pound Bryant’s career came to an abrupt end when the medical staff of the Raiders noticed something odd in his physical when he signed with Oakland in 2017.

He undergoes frequent dialysis as he waits for a transplant. Unable to work, Bryant and his family are trying to remain positive and hopeful a donor can be found.

Good luck, Armonty.
