The Houston Texans are evaluating the free agent pool when it comes to inside linebackers.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans brought in former Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall for a visit.
Marshall worked out for the Texans last season after the Oakland Raiders cut him to finalize their 53-man roster at the end of preseason, but the Texans didn’t pursue any further.
The Super Bowl 50 champion signed with the Raiders in 2019 after the Broncos declined the option on Marshall’s contract. After his end-of-preseason release, Marshall returned to Oakland in late October, but his tenure hardly lasted a week.
The Nevada product’s best years with the Broncos were from 2014-17 when he collected 281 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, two interceptions, 20 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown.
Adding Marshall would give the Texans’ depth at inside linebacker where Benardrick McKinney and Zach Cunningham are the starters. Dylan Cole, who is recovering from an ACL injury, provides support along with Tyrell Adams.
