Former Bristol Rugby players to open business at Wapping Wharf's Cargo 2

A group of former Bristol rugby players are opening an independent estate agency at Cargo 2 in Wapping Wharf, tomorrow (May 1).

Nexa Bristol is the latest company to join the vibrant community of businesses in the converted shipping containers on the harbourside.

The agency is the brainchild of a group of former professional Bristol rugby players who have since developed successful careers in the property sector.

Filton arena will be 'absolutely unique' say architects

Daniel Gray, Rob Higgitt and Olly Kohn - owner of the Pigsty restaurants at Wapping Wharf and Gloucester Road - and Daniel’s brother, Jamie Gray, founded the business after becoming frustrated with the traditional UK estate agency model.

The business, which will be based inside three newly refurbished shipping containers, is aiming to “shake up” the Bristol market.

Nexa has already been trialled in Portsmouth, where it ranked in the top three agencies on Right Move within a year.

But the founders say they chose Bristol because of “close personal connections” with the city and its “independent, pioneering spirit”.

Jake Gready, who has spent 25 years in the property industry, is joining the company as managing director.

He said: “I really feel Bristol is ready for this new model of estate agency where everything is focused around the providing continuity for the customer.

"And we’re really excited to be joining the vibrant, dynamic business community of Wapping Wharf – working alongside passionate people who, like us, want to offer customers something better.”

Stuart Hatton, managing director of Umberslade, the developer behind Wapping Wharf, added: “We’re delighted to be creating a new space at Cargo especially for the Nexa team, with newly arrived shipping containers now being converted on site.

“They will be joining a tight-knit supportive business community at Wapping Wharf, which is an ideal place for a business like NEXA Bristol.”
