Former Bristol Rovers star 'serves notice' to escape crisis club

Former Bristol Rovers man Byron Moore is free to join a new club after exiting Bury in a unique fashion.

Moore moved to the Shakers last year following his release from the Gas and enjoyed a productive season, scoring five league goals in 36 appearances to help them to promotion back to League One.

Yet the club have been beset by money problems, with players going unpaid at times.

The club have been hit with a 12-point deduction for the start of this season and manager Ryan Lowe has left to join Plymouth Argyle.

Moore is now said to be close to following him to Home Park, with Football Insider reporting on July 12 that the attacker had handed in notice to terminate his contract at Bury.

That notice period has now been served, meaning Moore is free to join a new club and, with Lowe revealing yesterday that Plymouth would sign a new player on Monday, it seems likely the 30-year-old is on his way to Home Park.

Moore spent two seasons at Rovers, scoring two league goals in 47 appearances.

For Bury, a debt-clearing 'rescue plan' was agreed earlier this week, which will see the club enter a CVA in order to continue to operate and pay back creditors over a period of time.

However, it means the club will start this season on -12 points due to breaking EFL insolvency rules.

On the pitch, Moore's exit means Bury will have just 10 senior players on their books with the season due to start in under two weeks.
