Former Bristol Rovers boss Ben Garner is being lined up for a coaching role at The Football Association, according to reports.
Football League World reports the 40-year-old, who spent 11 months in charge of the Gas, is being considered for a development coach role to work with up-and-coming players.
Garner took over from Graham Coughlan at Rovers in December 2019, but endured a difficult spell in charge, winning just six of his 36 games.
He was sacked in November with Rovers in 18th place in League One, and he has been apportioned with a share of the blame for their imminent relegation to League Two – though his points-per-game record this season is better than successors Paul Tisdale and Joey Barton.
Prior to his spell at the Mem, Garner was a revered coach in Crystal Palace's ranks before being being promoted to the first-team staff by Ian Holloway in 2012/13.
Garner later worked under Tony Pulis, Neil Warnock and Alan Pardew at Seluhurst Park, before Pulis recruited him to his West Bromwich Albion coaching staff in 2015.
A stint as Steve Coppell's assistant coach at Indian Super League outfit ATK followed in 2019 before he got the Gas job.
England's youth ranks are in a state of flux following the sacking of Aidy Boothroyd, who oversaw a disastrous performance in the Under-21 European Championships last month with a Young Lions squad brimming with talent failing to make it out of the group stage.
The report does not indicate how senior a role Garner is being considered for as The FA shakes up its ranks.
