Former Bristol City player second favourite to land vacant Hull City job

Hull City have started their search for a new head coach after Nigel Adkins announced he would be leaving the club when his contract expires.

Adkins took the Tigers to a 13th place finish in the Championship and was offered a new deal to stay at the club.

But after talks with the club's owners, he has decided to walk away ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Tony Pennock has been placed in caretaker charge as the managerial hunt begins and it is the 48-year-old who leads the betting to replace Adkins.

Pennock is favourite at 3/1 ahead of former Derby boss Steve McClaren at 5/1 and Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley who is priced at 7/1.

Former England manager McClaren played for Bristol City between 1988 and 1989.

Other names in contention include Darren Moore, Tony Pulis and Simon Grayson.

The Tigers are understood to have already identified their top target and could make a move in the next few weeks.
