Former Bristol City manager among favourites to take over at Watford or Huddersfield Town

For the first time in more than seven years, Lee Johnson is out of work following his dismissal at Bristol City two weeks over the club's inability to reach the Championship play-offs.

However, in what is likely to be a regular occurrence until he takes his next path in football, Johnson has been named among the favourites for the two newest vacancies in football.

Within a few hours after news broke of Danny Cowley's exit and Huddersfield Town, Nigel Pearson was reported to have been relieved of his duties at Watford for the final two games of the season.

Johnson has strong links with Watford having spent two years in their academy as a teenager, while Huddersfield are the sort of tightly-run, sensible Championship club that would appeal to the 39-year-old.

Johnson has been placed 8/1 favourite for the vacancy at the Terriers, according to the Sack Race, and is 14/1 to take over at Vicarage Road.

Intriguing the early favourites for the Watford job, at 6/1, are Chris Hughton who is the overwhelming choice among Bristol City fans to succeed Johnson at Ashton Gate, with another Robins target in John Terry.

As seasons conclude and clubs make managerial decisions ahead of next season, there is likely to be something of a merry-go-round in terms of coaches occupying various dugouts.

It'll be interesting to see where Johnson lands and if he wants to take a job now, or take his time in waiting for his next opportunity in football.
