Former Bristol City and Nottingham Forest manager linked with League One job

Steve Cotterill has entered the betting to be the next Plymouth Argyle manager.

The Pilgrims are still without a manager after sacking Derek Adams at the end of April in a last-ditch attempt to avoid relegation.

Despite caretaker boss Kevin Nancekivell winning their remaining league game, they still finished in the drop zone due to results in other games.

That means they are preparing for life in League Two next season but are still without a manager.

Former Bristol City boss Cotterill has not really been linked with the job before, but the Sack Race now have him at 14/1 to take the position.

The 54-year-old has been without a job since leaving Birmingham City in March 2018, although he was also linked with vacancies at Bristol Rovers and Scunthorpe United this season.

Cotterill was named League One manager of the year in 2014/15 when he led Bristol City to the double, winning both the league title and the EFL Trophy.

Yet he was dismissed in January 2016 after the Robins struggled on their return to the Championship, being replaced by current boss Lee Johnson.

Bury's Ryan Lowe is currently favourite for the Plymouth job at 4/5, with Cotterill ranked as sixth favourite.
