Former Bengals LB Vincent Rey gets a workout with the Ravens

It turns out the Cincinnati Bengals could have to play old friend Vincent Rey twice a year.

Rey’s trip to free agency had been a quiet one until Wednesday when he landed a workout with the Baltimore Ravens.

The report comes from ESPN’s Jamison Hensley: “Free agent LB Vincent Rey visited and worked out for Ravens on Tuesday. Rey has been a core special teams player with the Bengals for the past nine seasons and can back up at every linebacker spot.”

Rey, a former undrafted free agent out of Duke, spent 2010-2018 as a Marvin Lewis mainstay with the Bengals. He filled in well enough in base defense when asked, though his real standout skills came on special teams and as a locker room presence.

The Bengals continue to opt for more youth at the position as opposed to the 31-year-old Rey, most recently turning to third-round pick Germaine Pratt to help revive the unit.

But as it turns out, the Bengals might not be done seeing Rey via an AFC North rival.
