Former Bears first-round pick Kevin White released by Cardinals

Kevin White’s redemption story isn’t to be. At least not in Arizona.

White, the Bears’ former first-round selection, was released by the Cardinals on Wednesday after recovering from a hamstring injury that had recently sidelined him.

The Bears drafted White with the seventh-overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft. White struggled to stay healthy, and when he was, he failed to produce.

Which made it a no-brainer when the Bears decided to part ways.

White missed his entire rookie season with the Bears after suffering a fractured fibula in his left leg during OTAs. But the injuries didn’t stop there.

Over the next three seasons, White missed 24 of 48 games. In four years with the Bears, White had 25 receptions, 285 receiving yards and zero touchdowns.

White signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals that was worth up to $1.5 million. But White failed to make an impression in the Cardinals receivers corps., as well as dealt with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the past week.

The Cardinals had seen enough of the Kevin White experiment to know it wasn’t to be.
