Former BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern announces birth of baby girl

Steph McGovern has announced the birth of her baby daughter.

The former BBC Breakfast presenter revealed the happy news today over Twitter, saying all 'is fine and dandy'.

The 37-year-old said the little girl was born on Monday, November 4, 'just as BBC Breakfast was wrapping up'.

To her 383.6k followers, she posted: "Well hello world, just surfaced to let you know that we now have a daughter!

"Born on Monday morning just as @BBCBreakfast was wrapping up. We’re all fine and dandy.

"Just getting used to the eau de sick/poo I am now regularly wearing. #babylife".

It's the new-mum's first baby with her girlfriend.

The news follows headlines that the presenter has left BBC Breakfast after 18-years to bag her own Channel 4 entertainment show.

Titled 'The Steph Show', she'll leave the Salford studios behind to work from Channel 4's new headquarters in Leeds.

On her appointment, Steph said: "It's going to be nerve-wracking, but there's nothing I love more than finding out what makes people tick, whether it's a famous face or someone we haven't met yet who has a cracking story to tell."

The broadcaster will interview a new celebrity guest each week as they talk about the day's topics in front of a live audience.

The show will come to screens in spring 2020.

She initially announced her pregnancy news on Twitter back in July.
