Former Barcelona director makes Cristiano Ronaldo exit claim and other transfer rumours

Former Barcelona director Toni Freixa has made an outrageous claim surrounding a possible switch to the Nou Camp for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 36-year-old made the sensational return to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window and has already pulled Manchester United out of some sticky situations, including winning goals against Villarreal and Atalanta before a double salvaged a point against the latter in the corresponding Champions League group stage clash.

It is all change in Barcelona following Lionel Messi's departure and Ronald Koeman's exit this season. As a result, legendary midfielder Xavi has taken over as boss and looks to imprint his model, in the same way his previous manager Pep Guardiola did.

But the latest claim in Ronaldo's unwavering transfer debacle is surrounding a return to Spain but to Barca.

Speaking to Beteve's 'La Porteria' as quoted by AS, Freixa said when questioned about a move for the Portugal captain: "If there's a time for such madness then it's now."

The report claims that with Barcelona's current situation looking fraught, adding to Messi's departure and United's current form which has led to scrutiny surrounding Ole Gunnar Solskajer, there may be something in that.

Realistically, Ronaldo still has two years left on his current deal at Old Trafford and the former director may be looking to stir the pot but has backed the move nonetheless.

Sticking to the Portuguese contingent in the United squad, Diogo Dalot could be heading for the exit amid current reports.

The interest is coming from Italy, namely AS Roma, who are managed by Jose Mourinho - the man who brought Dalot to Manchester in 2018.

Two Italian news outlets, Calciomercato and Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, say that the sporting director is 'studying a strategy' in order to pry the defender away from Old Trafford.

It could be a similar deal that saw the Portugal international spend last season in Milan on a temporary basis.

The San Siro-side made efforts to make Dalot's deal permanent but their attempts proved fruitless. The 22-year-old has struggled to maintain first-team minutes so far this season and Roma are said to be looking to bring him in on a loan deal with a view of a permanent deal or translated as: 'with the right of redemption."
