Former bank chief to chair Malcolm Group

Former HSBC Scotland chief executive Alison McGregor has joined the board of the Malcolm Group as chair designate and a non-executive director.

McGregor has had a successful career in banking and financial services and is a non-executive director of Scottish Power Energy Networks Holdings, the CBI, the Beatson Cancer Charity, co-chair of the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board and a Board Advisor to Glasgow University Adam Smith Business School. From January she will also be a director of Fidelity Special Values plc.

Malcolm Group chair, George Mitchell, who was previously Governor and Treasurer of the Bank of Scotland, will work beside McGregor prior to her taking over next year.

Chief executive Andrew Malcolm said: "I am delighted that Alison is coming on board and am sure that she will provide excellent insight and counsel to the company.

“I’m very grateful to George for agreeing to stay on for a period of time and would like to place on record the Company’s sincere thanks to him for his superb stewardship of the Board and sterling contribution to the business over the last fourteen years.”
